YOUTH TOURNAMENT RULES
Registration and Eligibility: (NEW! Please read!)
- Youth participants are required to pay an individual entry fee of $25 per Youth, but all youth fishing aboard the same boat will be considered a team.
- A team can consist of one child, or as many can safely fish aboard the boat.
- A youth is defined as anyone 16 years of age and younger.
- All contestants must be registered and fish from a boat. Boats will not be provided.
- All boats must be at least 18’ long and be equipped with a marine radio.
Fishing Period and Weigh-in:
- Tournament time 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. All boats must be inside the pier heads by 1 p.m. or will be disqualified.
- If the tournament cannot begin by 9:00 am, it will be canceled. A three-hour minimum fishing time is required to complete the tournament. Any emergency information will be communicated via the CODE RED app.
- Weigh-in will be 1-2 pm on Friday, July 14, and all coolers must be at the weigh-in location by that time. Please drain the cooler before weigh-in.
- Weigh-in will be conducted via drive thru in the parking lot at Waterfront Park. NO TRAILERS please. Your crew will be required to unload their cooler and fish at the weigh-in station.
- Each team may only enter no more than five (5) fish. All teams will also weigh their largest fish. No extra fish in coolers at weigh in.
General Rules:
- You may have as many youths aboard as is safe for the boat. All youth participants on the same boat will be considered a team.
- Any number of crew members can be on board. Follow DNR rules on rod limits.
- Anyone on the boat can set lines and net fish. When a fish bites anyone is allowed to remove the rod from the holder and give it to the youth, but youth(s) must be the only one(s) to fight the fish and bring it boat side where it can be netted by any crew member.
- No radio restrictions for this tournament.
- Youth contestants MAY NOT fish on any boat that is registered to fish in the Ladies Classic.
Prizes:
- All prizes will be awarded based on weight.
- The number of entries will determine the total number of prizes. In the event of a tie the position money will be added together and split.
- A trophy will be awarded to the team with the highest 5 fish weight accumulated, and for the largest fish overall determined by weight.
REMEMBER – THIS IS A YOUTH TOURNAMENT. HAVE FUN, TEACH SPORTSMANSHIP AND PLAY BY THE RULES – YOU ARE SHAPING OUR FUTURE.
Rules will be discussed at the captains meeting, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
